Institute
The Institute of Sports and Sports Science (ISSW) is one of the largest sports science institutions in Baden-Württemberg, and one with a long tradition. It gains its distinctive profile from a consistent emphasis on empirical research programmes, a focus on knowledge transfer in research, and, more recently, a thematic focus on sport and physical activity across the lifespan.
Research at the ISSW is strongly application-oriented. Its topics range from school and recreational sport through competitive sport to health-related sport. In doing so, the Institute combines perspectives from different disciplines into independent, interdisciplinary approaches.
